Day Zero!

Yesterday was day zero of our 60-day waiting period. It went by so quickly, and luckily, uneventfully. Little man has done SO much in those 60 days, its pretty amazing. He has gone from rolling around to get places to army crawling, now regular crawling and pulling himself from sit to kneel to stand....walking isnt going to be much longer! Incredible for a guy who couldnt roll over all the way just 7 months ago. Its so exciting watching him learn all kinds of new things!

This Is The Hardest Part

Waiting. Waiting is the hardest part. We flew through all of our background checks, interviews, home studies, all of it. As soon as we had our license, it seemed like we got the email about a then-8 month old little guy who needed a permanent home. He has been with us for six months this Tuesday. We have been ready with all of our paperwork and everything we need to complete this adoption since before we knew for sure that he'd be coming to live with us. Right now, we are in the middle of our 60 day waiting period after having his 26 hearing to terminate parental rights. After those 60 days, we can petition for an adoption date, and from what we have heard, it wont take much longer. It could be as little as 2 more months. I feel like we were so prepared for this to be a difficult process, and now it really just is a waiting game.
I can not wait until we can post photos of our baby boy, to share his story with the world. I cant wait to let everyone meet this little man who has made such a difference in our lives!

1st birthday

monday was little mans first birthday... he had a blast. his auntie jamy brought cupcakes from her work and came down to help me decorate. i got off work 3 hours early. bought decorations at the dollar store (i love the dollar store)and went and picked him up from my mother in laws house and off we went to finish cleaning up the house before everyone arrived. everyone showed up with gifts in hand for cupcakes at 630. it was so nice of everyone to bring him something, i kinda expected that they would but it was not something that was needed. we just had a welcome to the family party in mid sept and everyone went all out that day too... cant wait to see whats in store for christmas. he got some great stuff... tons of toys and clothes and a smart trike (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4417538) its soo cool. cant wait till the weather is nicer to go on walks.

1st blog

so i am new at this blogging thing... kinda. i have started several blogs but i always abandon them after one post or so. i dont really know what to say, or even how often to say it... so i will start with something

i will refer to my self as A and my wife as C. i dont really want our names out there in cyber space so everyone can find us!

a little about us. we are both will be 30 next year! (holy crap!!!) and have been together since we were 18 and married for 2 years. we live in northern california and love it here, would not live anywhere else... well maybe somewhere tropical!

about a year ago we decided that we wanted to do foster to adopt. we did our 27 hours of training, back ground checks and all that goes with that to get licensed. we were officially licensed april of this year.

we got a email about a special needs baby in july and even though we were not licensed for a infant we decided that he was perfect for us (he will be refereed to as little man, we cant post his name, story or pictures until he is legally adopted.) after some meetings and an over night visit he came to live with us on sept 1st and he has changed our life in the best way possible.

so this blog is to journal our adventure in foster to adopt and for family and friends to join us in this journey.
